No one made a bigger positive impression at Summer League than Jordan McRae.
The 58th overall pick from Tennessee was dominant in Las Vegas, averaging 21 points from the field on an efficient 50% FG/37.5% 3FG/86.5% FT.
McRae averaged 18.7 points per game last season at Tennesse and he didn’t miss a beat in Las Vegas. His 21 point average ranked third among all players. He was efficient from all areas of the floor and was aggressive, constantly putting pressure on the defense with his penetration and varied offensive repertoire.
The biggest thing working in McRae’s favor is the lack of talent at the guard spot in Philly. Tony Wroten is a streaky bench player. Hollis Thompson can occasionally shoot well from distance, but is on a non-guaranteed contract. Jason Richardson is a shell of his former self and will probably finish this season on another team. Other than K.J. McDaniels, who should see some time at the 2, Jordan McRae should be in line for an opportunity to compete for playing time in the backcourt.
The 76ers were the second-worst shooting team in the NBA (43 percent) last season. They need help on the wings. Jordan McRae, another potential second-round Sam Hinkie gem, should get a chance to contribute.
