2015 NBA Draft: Small Forwards Scrap for Sixers’ Attention
By Dan Falcone
Apr 6, 2015; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Duke Blue Devils forward Justise Winslow (12) shoots while guarded by Wisconsin Badgers forward Duje Dukan (13) during the first half in the 2015 NCAA Men
A couple of weeks ago I cited Justise Winslow as the drafts top small forward: I indicated that . . .
“Justise Winslow can play small forward in the NBA and he has certainly intrigued many scouts and general managers. Most when asked have ventured to say that they prefer to see him begin at shooting guard and then plan to move him inside later. His frame is a telling sign that he is ready for both. No one questions his skills. As a defensive nightmare for the opposition he can dominate a game without ever taking a shot. His shot-blocking skills are legendary already and his rebounding is top-notch. On offense he looks for the ball at crunch time and has a smooth outside jumper.”
The thing he has going for him – he will be able to guard NBA level athletes on the perimeter and inside. Although he did not have the best game in the National Final, his potential is imminent. He needs to improve foul-shooting, which hovers at 62 percent.
