4) Emmanuel Mudiay

Mudiay is an impressive prospect and him being number four on the big board isn’t a knock on him. The 6’6″ point guard is impressive in transition and has a knack for getting to the rack. The huge concern with Mudiay is his jumper, which needs work. He shoots decently enough off p-n-r, but his standstill shooting needs improvement. He also has questionable decision making. While watching tape of him in China, there were several times where Mudiay would take a contested three-point shot with plenty of time left on the clock.

Here’s a shot of Mudiay excelling in transition:

And a nice baseline drive from Mudiay:

As I mentioned, the jumper needs work. Seeing a guard shoot an airball on a free-throw is bad:

Rare footage of Mudiay canning a three off the p-n-r:

Like I said, his shooting doesn’t look terrible coming off the p-n-r:

Mudiay is a good athlete, but not great and he isn’t on the level of John Wall or Derrick Rose. The concerns with his jumper made me move him below Russell, because he doesn’t fit well with what the Sixers are building. Still, I wouldn’t be opposed to the Sixers choosing Mudiay, especially if they believe they can fix his jump shot.
