Markelle Fultz Perfect 76ers Fit

In a vacuum, the greatest need for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Draft would read as follows:

Back court player with huge upside. Must be able to play at very high level with ball or off-ball. The player must be able to manufacture shots. He should command a complete offensive arsenal. Any such player must be able to take over a game, or actively engage his teammates in offense, as game situations dictate.  And finally, he must be capable of scoring anywhere on court. To do that, he must possess an above average perimeter shot.

I’ve just described University of Washington’s Markelle Fultz to a tee.  And that makes him that valuable to the Philadelphia 76ers.

From the beginning of the season, Fultz has had the focus of NBA scouts, and rightfully so.  After all, he does not seek the spotlight, it seeks him.  Markelle Fultz has the work ethic of a Dario Saric, the one-man gang upside of Joel Embiid, and the elite talent on an unsuccessful team background of Ben Simmons.  Ultimately, he is naturally gifted in ways that will remind Philadelphia 76ers fans immediately of Allen Iverson.

But most of all, he is a soft spoken gift on the basketball court. He will thrive under the incredible coaching of head coach Brett Brown. And he will love the passion of the fans of the Philadelphia 76ers.  This chance meeting feels like more than a young man catching a basketball game.

Markelle Fultz showed interest in playing for the Philadelphia 76ers tonight. And if I understand the rules correctly, that means the next move is up to the Philadelphia 76ers.
