I   Dirk Nowitzki

Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki would be an ideal power forward if the team can get significant minutes from center Joel Embiid in 2017-2018. A veteran of some 18 years, the 7-foot-0 power forward is the sage prototype to the modern stretch four. While his maturing body cannot be expected to play lights out on defense, he brings certain firepower to any team he plays for.

And on the basketball court with a defensive master like Embiid, he could do what he does best. Pin his ears back and let ‘er fly.

Tall Ball Possiballities

Adding a 7 footer to the lineup adds plenty of crazy tall ball possibilities, including a lineup of Joel Embiid, Dirk Nowitzki, Dario Saric, Robert Covington, and Ben Simmons. Would the Philadelphia 76ers be crazy enough to send that squad onto the basketball court together?  You bet they are.

Nowitzki agreed to a two-year $50 Million dollar deal to remain in Dallas in 2016. But this year is a team option year, and many expect the Dallas Mavericks to opt out of the hefty $25 Million price tag.  That would give an opening for the Philadelphia 76ers to rush in with a fistful of green on a short duration contract of their own.
