Haircut works! Philadelphia 76er T.J. McConnell marries

You knew Philadelphia 76ers T.J. McConnell was on a collision course to the altar when his fiance managed his hair style. Now, he is happily wed as the new season approaches.

Philadelphia 76ers T.J. McConnell was a long shot to make the Philadelphia 76ers roster. He made it and never looked back. T.J. McConnell was a long shot to get the nod to start at the point guard for the Sixers, but in two consecutive seasons he scrapped. And he fought. Finally, head coach Brett Brown had no choice but to give him the start.

Finally, T.J. McConnell had no chance at prolonged bachelorhood. The final battle for any man is the way he looks, and he surrendered that ownership months ago when a sudden new look emerged. It was a new “do”.  He changed the way he wore his hair. At that moment, nobody believed he had a chance to remain single when his coiffures were directed by finance’ Valerie Guilani.

But this was not a competition. McConnell thrives in those, and generally wins. This was love. The kind of love that begins in childhood, survives the test of adolesence, distance, past and future confusion. In fact, it is the kind of love where a young man loses his heart forever.

You can never question the heart of T.J. McConnell. He is there, thick or thin, favorite or long-shot. He simply doesn’t know how to quit.   What chance did she have to resist?

And so, he and his lovely wife, have taken their blessed vows of matrimony.

The first eligible bachelor of the Philadelphia 76ers has stepped from single lifestyle to wedded bliss. But the life of an NBA player is not easy. Road trips. Long hours at the gym. The passion of a professional athlete is strong.

So it takes a special lady to accept the journey that lay before them.  A partnership of equals, of two people who share in the emotional roller coaster of the unknown and the accolades.  While I was not invited to the wedding, we at the Sixer Sense have always admired his courage and determination.  So as a wedding present to the new couple, we offer this poem as our wedding toast

See Beyond the Moment

As you see beyond this moment, see beyond this day,
see beyond the challenges that lie along your way.
As you see beyond the feeling that nothing can stop you now.
Accept that it will happen, accept graciously and bow.

Give your all in the moment on the court.  But when nightfall comes, you sleep.

Take every opportunity. Preserve the love you own.
Share it with your family friends and children. Let it fill every room of your home.
Happiness is expectations. Never set the bar too high.
Always ask “where is this taking us?”, never whine and ask each other “why?”

A city awaits a championship, and you have answered the call.
But a more precious trophy is your love, the greatest gift of all.
Forget the worries of the world. Life will carry you on your way
