Philadelphia 76ers Summer League awards
Biggest Disappointment
This will be the third time now that I will be reiterating the bad performance that Jonah Bolden put on during the Summer League. Bolden was hoping to play for the Sixers this upcoming season prior to the start of Summer League. However, lack of any offensive game makes that hope very unlikely.
Bolden only averaged 6.5 points on 35.1 percent shooting from the floor and 23.5 percent from behind the 3-point line. Not something the team would have liked to see from a second year Summer League player. Bolden wasn’t even happy with his Summer league performance.
While Bolden’s defense is NBA ready, his offense is no where close. In the past, I had written that it would be best for Bolden to be on a two-way contract, however I had recently changed that opinion to that Bolden should stay overseas for another season.
Bolden needs a lot of playing to be ready to contribute on offense in the NBA. Playing for the Sixers’ G-League affiliate the Delaware Blue Coats might help, but while there’s likely to be playing time, there’s no guarantee he would get a lot of it. He can maximize his playing time by staying overseas. He needs all of the chances he can get to improve his offense and playing in Europe gives him that chance.
