Where does the Philadelphia 76ers’ defensive stopper rank among the best at his position?

The Philadelphia 76ers were an elite defensive team last season, largely due to Robert Covington‘s contributions on the perimeter. He earned first team All-Defense honors as a result, finishing the season among the 10 best defenders in the league.

He’s also an apt shooter, stretching the floor well beyond the three-point line with his spot-up ability. For most of last season, he was an underrated part of the Sixers’ offensive success. When he’s hitting shots, the Sixers’ chances of winning grow exponentially.

Now entering his sixth NBA season (fifth with Philadelphia), Covington will be a key piece for a Sixers team that’s aiming for the NBA Finals. The question we’ll answer today is simple — where does he rank among his peers?

As the preseason edges closer, we here at TSS are ranking every Sixers starter against the other projected starters around the league. We’ve already looked at Ben Simmons (point guards) and J.J. Redick (shooting guards), which you can read here and here, respectively.

Here’s where RoCo lands.
