Philadelphia 76ers: Best Markelle Fultz trade idea with every interested team
Cleveland Cavaliers
Right now, Cleveland rivals Atlanta for the worst NBA roster. That is, of course, with Kevin Love rehabbing an injury. The Cavs are in an awkward position — essentially in an all-out rebuild with one star player signed to a long-term contract.
The Cavs don’t need point guards. Collin Sexton was the No. 8 pick last summer, meaning Cleveland presumably plans to build around him. Jordan Clarkson and Matthew Dellavedova will also continue getting minutes at the one.
For a team building from the ground up, though, investing in the former top pick makes sense. Fultz is all upside, and that’s something the Cavs should be into at this point.
Burks can’t be dealt until January, but he’s a solid contributor who healthy. The Sixers need perimeter pieces who can handle, shoot and defend. Burks checks each box and is off the books next summer, freeing up cap space.
With Cleveland’s 2019 pick already being dealt, the Sixers wouldn’t be able to receive a first-round pick until 2021. The Cavs would presumably protect it, but the Sixers still get another asset in the trove alongside Miami’s 2021 pick.
