In just his second full season, Joel Embiid has climbed the ranks of the NBA’s top centers. With that being said, where does the Philadelphia 76ers center truly rank on this list?

Just two seaons ago, we were unsure of Joel Embiid’s future with our team. Fans were certainly excited about his promise, but wary of his injury history and his overall lack of big-time experience. Fast forward to today, and we have the most dominant big man that the NBA has seen in a very long time.

Joel Embiid is truly a new age center who has a toolbox full of moves that would make old school players blush. Embiid is an elite post player with incredible footwork, a skilled ball handling, tucked elbow shooting, ever trolling center and NBA fan favorite.

If you are able to take away one part of his game, he finds four other ways to beat you. Over the course of a game, this is demoralizing for some of the NBA’s best defenders, and we often see our lovable big man bait players into late game technical fouls. Not only do these tech’s energize Embiid, but he can bring an entire city to its feet by simply putting his hands to the sky.

Though Philadelphia 76ers fans can be biased when it comes to discussing Embiid among the NBA’s top centers, we can use his stats to explain our way through this argument. For argument’s sake, we will only be using the 2018-19 stats for Embiid and the competition. We will first take a look at Embiid’s overall season, and then go into individual matchups with the NBA’s elite centers. We will be comparing Joel to Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert.
