Philadelphia 76ers: 10 remaining free agent options
Justin Holiday
After getting his first NBA job with the Philadelphia 76ers back in the 2012-13 season, Justin Holiday has built his career on being a very good wing defender. The 30-year-old would be a solid mentor to the 76ers young wings. If Holiday would be willing to take a veteran’s minimum to compete for a chance at a championship, then he should be a priority for Philly this offseason.
“At this stage of his career, Sefolosha’s more of mentor than a rotational player and should be willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum.”
Between the Bulls and Memphis Grizzlies last season, Holiday averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals, while making 34.8 percent of his shots from behind the arc. Holiday would fit the profile of player that the 76ers front office has been adding this summer in defenders. His 3-point percentage isn’t perfect, but he would fit the mold of the type of wings Philly already has.
Thabo Sefolosha
The 13-year veteran was originally drafted by the Sixers before having his draft rights traded. Thabo Sefolosha is an ideal veteran to have at the end of the bench for the franchise. He can play if Philly needs him to or is willing to let young players get minutes instead of himself.
Last season for the Utah Jazz, he averaged 3.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.9 steals, while shooting 43.6 percent on 3-pointers. For his career, he put up averages of 5.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals, while converting 35.2 percent of his 3-point attempts. At this stage of his career, Sefolosha’s more of a mentor than a rotational player and should be willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum.
