NBA Draft 2020: Big Board 2.0
22. PRECIOUS ACHIUWA, Big, Memphis
Precious Achiuwa is a top-tier athlete who has a lottery-type ceiling, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see teams interested in that range. He’s a burly 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan and ample quickness, which should allow him to defend all over the floor.
Probably a natural four in the modern NBA, Achiuwa’s skills could function especially well as a small-ball center. He can defend in space, but he’s also a bouncy rim protector. He covers a lot of ground defensively and has the husk to handle the more bruising middlemen of yesteryear.
On offense, Achiuwa has promise as a rim-runner who can sprint up court and thrive in transition. He’s not inept as a ball handler, and he’s an aggressive straight-line driver who can punish smaller defenders at the rim. His wonky shot mechanics are the main hang-up.
