The Warriors have the rare opportunity to add the No. 1 pick to a championship-contending roster. It makes sense to add someone who can contribute immediately in the presence of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and the roster’s other core pieces. Anthony Edwards fits the bill.

Edwards is far from a perfect prospect, but the 2020 class lacks a clear-cut No. 1 prospect. The Warriors already have a lot invested in Andrew Wiggins, but Edwards is someone who can fit into a number of different lineup combinations as a versatile defender and a dynamic shot-maker on the wing.

He wasn’t the most efficient scorer at UGA, but Edwards has the explosiveness and strength to bulldoze his way to the rim and finish inside at a high level. He’s also prolific off the bounce, even if his shot selection is erratic at times. The Warriors would provide a good support system and a role where he wouldn’t feel the need to overextend himself.
