The Sixers enter this offseason with many possible directions. This Halloween, it’s time to trick-or-treat.

Daryl Morey will now helm the Philadelphia 76ers’ front office for its most pivotal offseason since ‘The Process’ began. Success, and the Sixers could contend for a championship. Failure, and we could be counting the days until Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons jumps ship.

This Halloween, it’s time to play trick-or-treat with potential offseason acquisitions. We have gone over numerous trade and free agency hypotheticals on the site, but this article will focus on five that a) carry special intrigue and b) are imminently possible.

Happy Halloween, and stay safe out there!

5. Alec Burks

VERDICT: Trick

Look, Alec Burks was fine — even good — during the Sixers’ Bubble run. He provided considerable value as a go-to scorer. The problem is, Burks should never operate as a go-to scorer, and his responsibilities exceeded his abilities in Philadelphia.

That said, it’s likely Burks will see a considerable pay raise this offseason. The Sixers have the taxpayers mid-level exception available to them, but Burks could command even more. Plus, is he really the player Philadelphia wants to spend the bulk of their limited cap space on?

Frankly, no.

Burks is a terrible passer, a mostly streaky scorer, and someone whose production will probably never exceed what he mustered as part of Golden State’s rebuild last season. He’s a fine bench piece, and he did help the Sixers, but he’s not as important as Philadelphia made him look in the postseason. The Bubble played tricks on the eyes.

Don’t expect a Burks-Sixers reunion under Daryl Morey.
