There are three offseason moves that the Philadelphia 76ers fans should be thankful for.

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at The Sixer Sense. While you take time and celebrate this holiday with your family and friends, we thought it would be prudent to review the three offseason moves that fans of the Philadelphia 76ers should be thankful for.

Without any more further delay, let’s begin with the third most thankful move made by the Sixers.

3 offseason moves to be thankful for: Drafting Tyrese Maxey

The NBA draft can be very thickly and unpredictable in some regards. Some players go much higher than expected, like Jalen Smith to the Phoenix Suns with the 10th overall selection. Some players go much lower, like Tyrese Haliburton to the Sacramento Kings at the 12th spot.

Maxey was one of those players that probably were projected to not be available when the Sixers selected the 21st pick. Maxey is a two-way combo guard with real upside. If his outside shot and playmaking improve, which they should as he’s only 20-years-old, then he could easily be an above-average starter in this league.

He’s already a dynamic scorer getting to the rim at will and having an already decent mid-range jump shot. He can also attack in transition. As both Christopher Kline and I have mentioned on our post-draft episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, Maxey’s absolute ceiling is to be an All-Star.

If he were to reach that ceiling, then he’d become the steal of the draft easily. However, in the even Maxey wasn’t available, the 76ers fans could have still been thankful because players like Tyrell Terry and Desmond Bane would have still been available and considered great picks at that spot.
