The Sixers rebuilding journey, dubbed “The Process” has been anything short of conventional

Just a few short months ago, the Philadelphia 76ers arduous rebuilding process seemed like it had been derailed completely. Like a freight train doomed for sudden demise, the team seemed like they were bound to end up right where they began several years ago — in the middle of the playoff race. Too good to get a lottery pick, too bad to compete.

Favored by some as the title favorites at the start of the season, they were ultimately swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2019-20 playoffs.

Understanding how this team went from so high to so low in less than a season takes a wider scope. It’s easy to point fingers, especially from the outside, but the blame for the turmoil hardly rests on one individual.

Some will try, though. Elton Brand, Bryan Colangelo, Josh Harris, Adam Silver, and yes, maybe even Sam Hinkie, are all at fault with varying levels of guilt.

The team is now under the guidance of Daryl Morey who was hired as president of basketball operations this summer. Some of the biggest believers think he is the only capable mind to turn this thing around. Morey, of course, was once Sam Hinkie’s boss while they worked for the Houston Rockets.

There are questions ahead. Will the Sixers trade for James Harden? Is Ben Simmons and/or Joel Embiid going to get traded away from the team? Will the Sixers disappoint or finally find playoff magic once again?

Finding the answers to all of these questions and enjoying the rest of the Sixers’ journey requires an understanding of what has transpired in Philadelphia over the last several years. With FanSided’s latest video, we took a look at “The Process”, from its inception up until now, how it fractured, and ultimately look at where things can go from here.

So, what do you think? Is “The Process” salvageable? What moves will Daryl Morey make to help this team turn it around?

It’ll be thrilling to watch it all unfold.
