Due to Superbowl Sunday, this week’s rookie report is coming out a day later. That being said, today is somewhat important as the G-League season is beginning. While in years past, this would probably impact multiple Philadelphia 76ers rookies, it will only impact one as mentioned in last week’s report.

21st pick, 2020 draft

Tyrese Maxey certainly won’t be rookie impacted by the start of the G-League season. While his role continues to diminish, he’s still in the regular rotation as of now. Though it should be noted, head coach Doc Rivers went with wing Furkan Korkmaz instead of Maxey when starting point guard Ben Simmons missed the game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

It should be noted that out of the four games he played in this past week, Maxey only played in single-digit minutes twice. With Mike Scott being the only injured rotational player and the emergence of Matisse Thybulle, the point guard’s role could continue to shrink moving forward.

Season averages: 9.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.1 blocks, 0.7 turnovers, and 1.3 fouls. Shooting 46.7 percent on field goals, 31.3 percent on 3-pointers, and 85.0 on free throws.

49th pick, 2020 draft

In limited minutes, Isaiah Joe did impress this past week. He played in two games, but in the second game versus the Brooklyn Nets, he only logged one minute. That being said, he played eight minutes against the Blazers and had six points on 2-3 shooting on 3-pointers. Unless injury or COVID occurs on this team, the sharpshooter is on the outside looking in.

Season averages: 5.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.3 blocks, 0.4 turnovers, and 1.5 fouls. Shooting 39.7 percent on field goals, 38.8 percent on 3-pointers, and 100.0 on free throws.

58th pick, 2020 draft

As I’ve already alluded to at the beginning of this article and last week’s rookie report, Paul Reed will be playing with the Delaware Blue Coats in the Orlando Bubble. This weekly report will keep track of his G-League stats during this bubble period.

Season averages: 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.8 assist, 0.3 steals, 1.0 blocks, 1.3 turnovers, and 1.0 fouls. Shooting 42.1 percent on field goals and 0.0 percent on 3-pointers.

It will be interesting to see how Reed performs in the Orlando bubble and if he shows enough growth to help the Philadelphia 76ers once the G-League season is over.
