Philadelphia 76ers: Potential George Hill trade package
Recently I wrote about a potential trade package for Delon Wright because he was one of two point guards who are rumored to be on the Philadelphia 76ers‘ radar as a potential trade target. The other was George Hill and it seems only fitting that the veteran gets his very own potential trade package article.
The 34-year-old point guard is having a solid season by his standards. On the rebuild Oklahoma City Thunder he’s averaging 11.8 points and 3.1 assists, while converting 38.6 of his 3-point attempts. Those stats fall around his career averages as well.
The down part for trading for a player of his age is because his contract for next year is worth about $10 million which is probably going to be too much for a guy in his mid-30s. However between him and Wright, acquiring Hill would be a more win-now move which in the season that Joel Embiid is having, it might be the best move to make.
A potential deal to get Hill on the Philadelphia 76ers.
All things considered, the proposed deal below should be appealing to both sides and spoke about this same deal on the most recent episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast.

The Thunder get a young center in Tony Bradley to learn behind Al Horford and Mike Muscala. Mose Brown isn’t the long-term answer for Oklahoma City but Bradley could be. Mike Scott is more or less salary filler in this deal like he was in the hypothetical Wright trade. More than likely, he would be waived after this potential trade is executed. Getting a second round pick and a young center for a guy like Hill should be a win for the Thunder.
The Sixers do lose some security on the center depth chart as Vincent Poirier is the only center behind Embiid and Dwight Howard. However, it’s worth the risk for a high-volume 3-point shooting point guard who can still run a second unit’s offense, play off the ball, and who isn’t horrendous on defense.
If the Philadelphia 76ers are willing to risk the potential that Hill’s contract might be very hard to move next year, then this proposed trade makes sense for parties involved.
