On this episode of the Sixer Sense Podcast, we cover all sides of the second round series first game between the 76ers and Hawks. It was an ugly loss to a hot Atlanta team, but our analysis goes right into the first game itself.

The Sixers went down swinging against the Hawks in Game 1, but Philly couldn’t land enough punches. We break it all down in the podcast.

Lucas Johnson and I  (Uriah Young) start with the Sixers’ team stats, and break down what these numbers meant for the outcome of Game 1. After we pick apart the collective effort and execution of the team, we dive into the individual performances of each Sixer player.

More from Podcasts

From the valiant attempt by Joel Embiid to fight through his meniscus tear injury, to Seth Curry’s much needed outside shooting, we look at the good of this game. We also look at the bad, which included the terrible foul shooting of Ben Simmons, poor production of Danny Green, and inefficient play of Tyrese Maxey, who seemed to be brought back down to rookie earth against Atlanta.

Lucas and I then explore some of the surprises of this game that included the hot shooting of the Hawks and lack of defensive effectiveness from the 76ers. We bring up Matisse Thybulle’s offensive contributions off the bench and Furkan Korkmaz’s late game surge of scoring in the fourth quarter.

The podcast also offers some suggestions related to adjustments for Game 2. Lucas gives a defensive strategy to help contain Trae Young, and I bring up a late game idea that could curb Atlanta’s temptation to hack Ben Simmons on purpose and send him to the free throw line.

Lastly, we go into the social media question of the week. The followers of the Sixer Sense site on Twitter and Facebook had plenty to say about the Hawk’s star, Trae Young, and how to slow him down in this series. Listen and find out if your response was read aloud on the podcast!
