Philadelphia 76ers: 3 players who are Delaware Blue Coats bound

Despite the fact that the Philadelphia 76ers are in a win-now mode, that hasn’t stopped the team from continuing to build the roster with a majority of young players. While there’s plenty of young players who will be getting minutes this season, there are going to be some who will be riding the bench in most games.

Instead of them just waiting for playing time, the Sixers have the option to assign these young players to their G-League affiliate the Delaware Blue Coats. The Blue Coats have been a great tool for the 76ers in the past with players like Shake Milton and Paul Reed showing true growth while in Delaware.

There are three players who would benefit from playing in the G-League this season. To be clear, Aaron Henry and Grant Riller won’t be on this list due to the fact that they are on two-way contracts and they will be on the Blue Coats roster already.

3 players who should play on the Blue Coats this year: Isaiah Joe

Despite entering his second season and showing real talent as a rookie in limited minutes last year, Isaiah Joe will still be in line to get minutes with the Blue Coats this season. This isn’t to say that he’s not talented enough to be in Philly’s rotation, but there’s too much talent ahead of him.

Until a Ben Simmons’ trade occurs, the bench rotation on the perimeter will most likely have Seth Curry and Furkan Korkmaz as the first two wings off the bench. Milton will spend some time on the wing despite probably having to be the backup point guard.

Now Joe should be the first wing to receive extra minutes in case of injury, but his playing time will be inconsistent and he still needs game reps in order to continue to develop. That could mean that his best chance to get that would be in Delaware.

Joe is the one player on this list that should see the least amount of time in the G-League and there’s a good chance he only plays a handful of games with the Blue Coats this season.
