Philadelphia 76ers: 3 players that should get a training camp contracts
3 players that should get a training camp contract: Kostas Antetokounmpo
Having a young NBA championship could certainly help the Philadelphia 76ers during training camp. Kostas Antetokounmpo won a title with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals. His older brother is Giannis Antetokounmpo who also just won an NBA championship.
The Atetokounmpo name automatically makes Kostas an interesting prospect. He was on a two-way contract with the Lakers so he didn’t get too much playing time. However, in the last season he played in the G-League, he put up promising numbers. The 6-foot-10 power forward averaged 14.1 points and 7.9 rebounds, while shooting 61.8 percent from the field.
Using an Exhibit 10 on a 23-year-old player who has that last name alone is worth a risk for the 76ers. He could continue to develop in the G-League. It’s clear that he needs a break to get his foot in the door in terms of getting a chance for actual minutes.
Working hard in the G-League is one way to get that chance. It should be noted that Antetokounmpo signed with a European club this offseason, so it’s unclear if he can get out of that deal in order to come back to the NBA. If he can and wants to, then he’s worth a look for Philly.
Bringing in another shooter and two big men won’t hurt the Philadelphia 76ers entering training and could benefit the Blue Coats as well
