The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching. The Philadelphia 76ers are a somewhat surprising fifth place in a competitive Eastern Conference. Despite the fact that Ben Simmons has refused to play for the Sixers, this till has played well.

Part of the reason is because of the quality of depth the front office has built over the last two years. Adding players like Andre Drummond and Georges Niang has sure-upped the depth chart in the frontcourt. The 76ers also have more than enough shooters surrounding MVP front-runner Joel Embiid.

However, the depth could use some extra work. Especially, if Simmons doesn’t get traded at the deadline. The major area of weakness is the point guard position. Don’t be mistaken, Tyrese Maxey has been a beacon of light during the Simmons saga. However, the rest of the point guard depth has been suspect at best.

Shake Milton was supposed to be the primary backup this season, but he hasn’t played a game since January 3, 2022, due to injury and he’s only played 27 games thus far this year. The front office can’t bet on his health this season. Myles Powell is on a two-way contract, but he’s more of a shooter than a playmaker.

Philly has had to rely on Furkan Korkmaz, Seth Curry, and even Joel Embiid to supplement the lack of playmaking. The Sixers need another playmaker on the roster even if nothing changes on the Simmons front if they want to have a chance for a deep run in the playoffs.

There are three point guards they should aim for at the trade deadline to help them moving forward. All trades were tested and approved on Fanspo.com.
