Sixers need to target 3 backup point guards at the trade deadline: Nets’s reserve

Philadelphia 76ers fans would love to make a trade for the starting point guard on the Brooklyn Nets, but that isn’t a sure-fired thing to happen. However, there’s another point guard on the Nets’ bench that the Sixers could trade for.

The Nets have quality point guard depth on the roster with the likes of James Harden, Kyrie Irving (part-time), and Patty Mills. The need for a player like young journeyman Jevon Carter is minimal at best so he’d be the ideal trade candidate in this situation

Carter for Korkmaz makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Nets get another, albeit streaker, sharpshooter in Korkmaz. Korkmaz has struggled this season from deep (28.7 percent), but a new change could help the 35.7 percent career 3-point shooter get his groove back.

Carter is a quality backup point guard. He can play on or off the ball. He’s a gritty 3-and-D point guard who could fit into the 76ers rotation. This season, he’s averaged 3.4 points and 1.0 assists while shooting 34.0 percent from the 3-point line. His role is limited in Brooklyn, but given a bigger role, Carter could grow into a Patrick Beverley type of player.
