Not to sound like a broken record, but the Philadelphia 76ers will parade one of the strongest lineups the league has seen in recent memory. With four established All-NBA guys spearheading their title bid, championship contention will just be their floor this time around. That being said, one storyline that will be worth following closely next season is how Nick Nurse intends to manage his star-studded crew. Fortunately, the team now has the tools to allow him to recreate his old championship formula.
Nurse, who has already won a championship with the Raptors back in 2019 as the man on the sidelines, is widely known as a mad scientist on the court. However, he has not had the kind of lineup flexibility to fully exhibit his style due to the 76ers having little depth and too many injury-prone players in the lineup. On paper, that stands to change in the upcoming campaign.

Toronto won the title seven years ago on the strength of their sheer depth and lineup versatility. Nurse was able to fully utilize the fact that the Raptors had many players who could play different styles, giving them flexibility to generate advantages over their opponents and match their respective play styles when needed.
After adding the likes of LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the 76ers now have the firepower and the depth to cater to Nurse's creative itches. There is no denying that the veteran tactician is adept at improvising heady tactics mid-game, and with those players bolstering their lineup, there is more creative leeway for him and the coaching staff.
Nurse's stint in Philadelphia so far has admittedly been far from remarkable. However, the reality is that he has not had the kind of personnel that would allow him to recreate the championship formula he unleashed in Toronto. With all the injuries and uncertainty surrounding their players in recent campaigns, Nurse was cudgeled into having to focus more on preserving players, managing their loads, and coming up with patchwork lineups to cope with all the player absences.
With much more firepower and depth this time around, the pressure is now on for Nick Nurse to deliver for the 76ers next season. The goal is the championship, of course, and anything short of that would be a disappointment. Hopefully, the veteran coach will be able to recreate the magic of 2019 now that he has all the tools to succeed from the sidelines.
