Another team just sabotaged their chances at LeBron, and the 76ers are likely smiling about it.

According to recent rumblings, the Philadelphia 76ers are one of the three finalists to land LeBron James in free agency. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat are the two other ball clubs in the running for the superstar, although they are reckoned to be below those teams in the pecking order under most betting odds.

That being said, the 76ers might have just seen one of their biggest competitors potentially get booted out of the race, albeit due to their own doing. Miami was shaken recently in view of the news that All-Star big man Bam Adebayo and former guard Tyler Herro had a physical altercation, sending shockwaves to the league.

Well, Miami prides itself on its purported "Heat Culture", and if anything, this development falls far short of what it advertises itself as having. All of a sudden, the Heat has seen their off-court allure get dimmer, and that might be more than enough for James' camp to view Miami as a no-go in the raging bidding war.

The 76ers might have just gotten better odds at signing LeBron James in free agency

Miami was the early winner in the offseason when it managed to pull off a blockbuster trade which brought two-time Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo to South Beach for a package which included Herro. Sure, their depth might have taken a massive hit, but when the Greek Freak is on the other end, that is a price worth paying.

A potential Big Three consisting of Adebayo, Antetokounmpo, and James would have made for a very strong recruitment pitch on Miami's part independent of the fact that the 22-time All-Star has previously played for the franchise and seems to have some unfinished business therein. However, this off-court instance is simply debilitating for the Heat optics-wise, especially in view of their current footing in the LeBron sweepstakes.

As such, the 76ers are probably the biggest beneficiaries of this development. While the Cavs still stand stall as the favorites to land the King, rumors indicate that his camp has taken Philly's pitch seriously.

Acquiring someone like James would be massive for the 76ers, which are desperate to snap a title drought that has lasted for more than four decades. Aside from the beauty of the hypothetical narrative, both sides are simply a match made in heaven basketball-wise.

Hopefully, the 76ers end up being the next destination for the megastar. And if anything, Miami's latest mess should only bolster Philly's case.
