The Philadelphia 76ers are firmly in the race for LeBron James. So much so that the rest of their offseason moves are probably on pause until they find out whether James chooses them or not. Well, they may be waiting longer than they otherwise would have because of James’ reported beef with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
According to Cleveland-based radio host Andy Baskin of Baskin & Phelps 92.3 The Fan, James isn’t happy that Silver supposedly tried to pressure him into making a decision. He and his camp were ready to announce his choice of team, but Silver’s comments about delaying the schedule rubbed him the wrong way, so he decided to wait.
Now, the Sixers have been left waiting to continue with their offseason because James’ decision was delayed. And it’s supposedly Silver’s fault.

Philadelphia has already made some big-swing moves this summer. The Sixers’ roster is going to be very different next season regardless of whether James joins them in free agency.
The Sixers made a massive deal with the Boston Celtics, sending out Paul George, two first-round picks, and two-second round picks and bringing back Jaylen Brown, who just earned All-NBA Second Team honors and finished sixth in MVP voting last year.

On top of that, they managed to sign a few solid players in free agency. They signed Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and Ariel Hukporti, all of whom should play rotational minutes next season.
But adding James to the team would put them over the top. Despite being 41 years old, James is still playing at an All-Star level. He’s not the MVP-caliber guy he once was, but he’s still elite.
A lineup of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Brown, James, and Joel Embiid would immediately be one of the best in the Eastern Conference, but the Sixers don’t know if they have it in place yet.
And even if James decides to join another team, it would be good for the Sixers to know so they could start planning for life without him, making other small signings.
But right now, everything is up in the air, and it supposedly could be all over by now, had it not been for Silver saying that the NBA is delaying its schedule release because of James’ decision.
James saw that as pressure to make a decision he clearly wants to make on his own time, and now, the entire league is still waiting for him to announce his choice.
