This will speed things up for the 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are currently trying to free up some more cap space and spending power to finally close the chapter with Quentin Grimes, but so far, there has been little tangible progress. The restricted free agent himself has seemingly already acknowledged that he will be staying on the roster next season, but without ink on the paper, everything is plainly conjectural.

Looking at the current lineup, Kelly Oubre Jr. is perhaps the easiest player to float as someone the 76ers front office should really try to ship to another team. After all, he is on an expiring contract, and he is a rather stable role player who can give any team a boost when it comes to scoring while also providing more resistance on the defensive end.

Sadly, despite his own protests, Oubre’s time in Philly should end sooner than later. He has become expendable, and his weaknesses are such that the 76ers can no longer afford to cover them up. He has been a positive reinforcement for the last couple of seasons, but good things must come to an end.

Fortunately for Daryl Morey and his crew, they may not even need to go on an escapade to find a taker for the divisive veteran after a surprise team was floated as a possible landing spot.

The 76ers could trade Kelly Oubre Jr. to the Kings

During the last few days, there has been some whispers about Sacramento potentially registering some degree of interest in moving the needle for Kelly Oubre, although there has not been any official voice to corroborate such an idea.

Still, it is worth noting that the Kings are desperately trying to salvage what if left of their waning window as a playoff team in the brutal West, and trading for Oubre is exactly the kind of move they would pull the trigger on.

Kidding aside, Oubre would easily project as a better fit in Sac-Town. The Kings have a litany of playmakers who are great at occupying the pain, giving him an ample room to be more efficient as a scorer should he end up there.

While he can be erratic at times, Oubre has actually matured as a player, especially on the defensive end. That alone would be sufficient to entice playoff aspirants to take a shot at him.

All in all, the 76ers should not have a lot of problems finding a taker for Oubre, so hopefully, they get to follow through on this plan sooner than later.
