The Philadelphia 76ers have had the most eventful offseason of any team in the NBA, and it is not even close. As a result, they underwent a major roster turnover, and while the spotlight will always be on the new faces they will be ushering in, it must also be noted that they lost some players as well. In fact, one of them, Tyrese Martin, is now out of the league and is reportedly headed to Europe.
As announced by his new ball club, Martin had recently signed a new deal with FC Barcelona of the Euroleague and Liga ACB. After the 76ers opted not to continue his two-way deal from last season, he now enters a new chapter in his career, although he will have to settle for a job outside the NBA for the meantime.

Just recently, former 76ers guard Shake Milton was also reported to be taking his talents to Europe. Martin is now the latest to follow suit, and he will have the opportunity to showcase himself in the Euroleague with the hope that he can find his way back to the NBA after a very brief stint in the league.
Last season, Martin split time with the Nets and the 76ers. He signed with Brooklyn in 2024 and spent nearly two campaigns there before the team opted to waive him in February. Philly then picked him up on the waiver wire and signed him to a two-way contract. He appeared in just nine outings for the 76ers.
Martin had his most productive season during the 2024-25 campaign, where he appeared in 60 games for the Nets and even started in 11 of those outings. In that year, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and two assists in just under 22 minutes a night, showing glimpses of being a good all-around player with league-average three-point shooting, as evidenced by his 35.1 percent conversion rate on good volume.
The 76ers could have signed him to another two-way deal, but with the team already having brought in Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert, the need for Martin simply evaporated. The front office loaded up in the backcourt and the wings, leaving no room for the latter to enjoy another go-round with the team.
Hopefully, Tyrese Martin can stand out for his new ball club in Europe. There is clearly some talent there, and while the 76ers could not unlock him fully, it could be his next stop that manages to do exactly that.
