Former 76ers guard under heavy fire after dropping his latest tone-deaf take

Well-deserved.

Another day, another glib and ignorant take from former Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley.

In true Pat Bev fashion, he took a swipe against another NBA star in his latest podcast. This time, he was zoomed in on Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, whom he addressed without any provocation to do so.

The former NBA vet harshly criticized Young, alleging that players do not want to play with the All-Star in Atlanta and that he is not a good leader nor a good teammate.

Beverley pushed things further, claiming that Young — who has not had a lot of team accolades so far — should not be talking to him, garnering a lot of negative reactions on social media.

Even Kevin Durant joined in on the ensuing train of jaw-dropped personalities, calling out Beverley for such an insane take.

That’s how you know how bad it was.

Former 76ers vet drops an all-time ignorant take on Trae Young

Young, a four-time All-Star, has been an elite point guard in the league since coming to the league, and the numbers prove it. He has not seen a lot of personal nor team success since leading the Hawks to an Eastern Conference Finals berth four years ago, but he is most certainly not someone you tab as some sort of an entrenched loser.

His teams have been characterized as being too subservient to his play style, but you cannot argue the fact that he has made a lot of his teammates better. He is an absolute machine as a playmaker, and has helped develop the likes of Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu while also setting the table for his previous teammates in John Collins, Kevin Huerter, and De’Andre Hunter, who all became above-average role players in the league.

Beverley does not even have any business putting himself on a pedestal when talking about such a game-changer. As everyone knows, he has always been just a role player, forcibly abdicating unto himself the talking rights of a Hall-of-Famer. Simply put, he does not get to decide who is and who is not valuable enough in the grand scheme of things.

It’s takes like these that make the so-called “new media” more damaging than people would like to admit. But knowing Patrick Beverley, this is probably not going to be the last time the former 76ers guard will indulge himself in the pool of his ignominious claims.

Well, look at him now. Where is he in the league, by the way?
