Kevin Love seems to be trying his best to stay on the Philadelphia 76ers' radar for the 2026-2027 NBA season.
Currently, the Sixers aren't in a position to take another player on without cutting ties with somebody else. Since Jabari Walker was saved by a Johni Broome trade, which allowed the 76ers to open up space for Kenatvious Caldwell-Pope, the roster is sitting pretty with its 14 players to begin the season.
Don't count out Kevin Love
This is one of the perks of getting LeBron James--his former championship-winning teammates are going to want to have an opportunity to play for a title with the Sixers after their blockbuster offseason, which included a trade for Jaylen Brown and inking LeBron.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Love has made his interest known to the Sixers. Whether that interest is mutual seems unclear.
"Love's agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, has been in touch with the Philadelphia 76ers' front office since James picked Philadelphia, sources told ESPN. Though the 6-foot-10 Love and James have remained close since teaming up for four seasons with the Cavaliers and even vacationed extensively together this summer, that bond doesn't necessarily mean there will be a roster spot for the former five-time All-Star by training camp."
Love has been in the league since 2008. He started with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he starred until 2014, before linking with LeBron on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, Love has spent time with the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz.
Over time, he decorated his resume with an NBA championship, five All-Star nods, and two All-NBA nods. Love was also the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2011, the first year he became an All-Star.
Should the Sixers keep tabs on Love?
During his latest showing in Utah, Love appeared in 37 games, averaging 16.6 minutes off the bench. He shot 39.7% from the field, hitting on 37.3% of his threes, producing 6.7 points per game. He also came down with 5.8 rebounds per game, and dished out 1.8 assists.
The Sixers' depth chart suggests they'll need frontcourt help. There is a hope that Adem Bona and/or Ariel Hukporti do well enough to convince the Sixers that they won't need to be replaced, but the Sixers have to see it to believe it.
Either way, the Sixers should keep tabs on Love. The 37-year-old is clearly still convinced he has gas left in the tank, and the familiarity with LeBron certainly helps. At this point, the Sixers are loaded where they need to be. The 15th player on the roster will be utilized in a small role, if any, later in the year. Love would be a low-risk addition if the Sixers are interested.
