The 76ers and the Celtics, as everyone knows, have a fierce rivalry going on that draws from both the past and the present. Today, both franchises remain at odds with each other, and Jaylen Brown has added a thicker layer of derision to it with his revitalized rift with Jayson Tatum. In fact, the new Philly star told the latter to "stay ready," suggesting that their next matchup could get even more fiery.

Just a few days ago, Tatum was asked about his reaction when he found out that Brown was traded, stating that he was just as taken aback by the blockbuster deal as everyone else when it first broke. However, Brown commented with a cap emoji on social media, signifying that Tatum was not exactly being candid when he laid bare his reaction to the trade.

In a subsequent exchange with the media, Brown was asked about what that social media nugget meant, reiterating that there is no beef between him and Tatum, but noted that "there might be a little lamb chops and some gravy" with regard to his relationship with the Celtics superstar. Brown then went on to say that Tatum "should stay ready at all times."

The former Celtics duo, which led Boston to a championship just two years ago, has had a complicated relationship, but it was repeatedly dismissed as a largely contrived one thanks to the media constantly pitting them against each other.

Brown and Tatum both signaled over the summer that there are neither hard feelings nor animosity between them, but there have also been some indications that they are not exactly on friendly terms. During one of their preseason matchups, Brown was seen flat-out ignoring Tatum when they were literally inches away from each other.

Boston and Philadelphia will see each other for the first time in the regular season on Nov. 10, which is roughly three weeks from now. It will be the first matchup between both squads, as they are slated to meet at least four times, but Brown probably already has that date marked in red circles on his calendar.

The 76ers are off to a racing start, and the last thing the Celtics want is to see such a formidable squad get even more bolstered by the infusion of extra motivation and spice care of Jaylen Brown. After all, he has a lot to prove in this rivalry, and seeing his previous co-star lead his former team on the other side should be plenty enough for him to treat that game differently.
