The Philadelphia 76ers have had a fiery start to the offseason. From the draft to a blockbuster trade and a handful of savvy free agency signings, the team has now put itself in position to be considered one of the definitive title favorites in the 2026-27 campaign. In fact, the front office is not even done making moves just yet.
That being said, Joel Embiid will be the biggest determinant of just how far this team can go. And to that effect, fans should be thrilled about the fact that he has unlocked a major advantage for this team. According to Bob Myers, president of the ownership group, unlike in previous years, the former Most Valuable Player is healthy this offseason.
Of course, that is a major breakthrough for this 76ers squad. Embiid has had a lot of idle summers especially recently in order to whip himself into functional shape. Now, he appears to be healthy enough to actually be in the lab once again instead of just rehabbing without a clear timeline under a vague condition.
The 76ers already hold a major advantage heading into next season with a healthier Joel Embiid
All things considered, Embiid turned in a relatively successful campaign this past season. While he still ended up missing more games than suiting up, he was able to remind everyone that he is still an unstoppable force when is on the hardwood. His rebounding and rim protection took a small step back, but is overall game remained absolutely dominant, especially on the offensive end.
There really is no stopping someone like Embiid. When he is on, the 76ers are simply that much more formidable. And with an even more loaded roster this time around, Embiid's continuous brilliance will only make life easier for his star-studded crew.
Embiid's presence alone nearly automates an advantage for the 76ers. There are very few teams in the league which are equipped to handle someone like him without having to concede much to the other stars on the roster on the defensive end.
The 76ers will go as far as Embiid can take them. And if he is healthy right off the bat, the team should be in much better position to dominate their competition, especially since a determined, battle-ready version of him is something no team would want to handle. Now, he has a full summer to focus on actually further honing his craft and improving his on-court chemistry with his teammates.
Sound like scary hours for the rest of the league, huh.
