The LeBron James bidding war seems to be coming close to a conclusion, and the Philadelphia 76ers still tout a great chance at being the megastar's landing spot. It appears that the organization is a united front in this sweepstakes from top to bottom, debunking earlier reports from ESPN's Dave McMenamin that the front office was a non-existent factor in making their recruitment pitch.
76ers may have changed their recruiting tactic for LeBron
Speaking on the 97.5 The Fanatic pod, McMenamin changed his tune, saying now that the 76ers have taken an eclectic approach in recruiting LeBron ahead of his eventful decision, with the front office, head coach Nick Nurse, and the team's star players all doing their part to engage with James and his camp to the effect that he will choose Philly.

"I want to say the people that I've spoken to told me about [Joel] Embiid's interaction, it's been mostly through text messaging, which is an obvious way to communicate in 2026. As… pic.twitter.com/8QQkWDuDbd
At this point, it is no secret that his final call will be made sooner rather than later. He himself admitted to flirting with his much-awaited choice, and the fact that his free agency has held up everything league-related could nudge him into spilling the beans any moment now.
The 76ers are a united front from top to bottom in recruiting LeBron
Previously, it was rumored that the 76ers front office, now led by Mike Gansey and aided by Bob Myers in an advisory role on behalf of the ownership group, had effectively abdicated its authority to recruit James in favor of the players, especially Tyrese Maxey.
Of course, that was a strange, far from ideal, approach given how the rivaling front offices have gone out of their way to submit their respective LeBron bids. As such, this latest report by McMenamin is definitely a welcome development, especially as we inch closer to James' judgment call, given that everyone appears united in trying to get the star in Philadelphia.
The 76ers brass, especially Myers, has a lot of strong connections around the league. It would have been a waste of resources if the front office simply played the role of listener in their hunt for James, as it could be perceived as some sort of non-committal stance.
Now, with their full-on approach fortified by this report, the 76ers have basically laid out all of their cards for LeBron James. Hopefully, they come out of this sweepstakes a better team with an even higher ceiling in their quest to win the championship next season. An answer to this LeBron chase is within reach.
