Most in NBA circles anticipate the 38-year-old veteran free agent, Kyle Lowry, to re-sign with the 76ers. With the Free Agency set to begin shortly, fans will not have to wait long to find out if the rumors are true.

That being said, like nearly every player in the NBA, there seem to be mixed feelings among 76ers fans regarding the potential of bringing back the veteran. Here you can find three reasons why the City of Brotherly Love should welcome a Kyle Lowry return.

1. Kyle Lowry provides stability in the regular season

Coming over to Philadelphia in the middle of the season, Lowry appeared in 23 regular season games for the 76ers and was a starter in 20. In his 28 minutes per game, Lowry was a pretty solid contributor at times and helped the Sixers win games, ultimately earning them a playoff spot. Lowry had seven double-digit scoring outputs and 12 games of five assists or more.

The 76ers had more than their fair share of injury woes in the 2023-24 season. Throughout March and April, Lowry remained a staple of the starting lineup while providing veteran leadership and stability.

2. Kyle Lowry can knock down shots from beyond the arc

In his time with Philadelphia, Lowry knocked down 40 percent of his three-point attempts, while nearly shooting 4 per game. Shooting is an invaluable asset for every team. Still, for the 76ers, the need is to always surround Joel Embiid with players who can knock down open shots.

Embiid demands so much attention and the pieces around him must be able to capitalize on these opportunities. Though his numbers went down a tick in the playoffs, Lowry started in every game and had an 18-point Game 1 where he knocked down four of his seven three-point tries.

3. Kyle Lowry is a champion

If you have an opportunity to bring a savvy, veteran guard who impacts winning to your roster, you need to do it. There’s a reason contending teams will still be looking to add Lowry to their roster when free agency opens. That reason is found in the fact that Lowry can still produce at a high level and impact winning. His veteran presence allows him to play several different roles within an offense and still be able to excel.

Kyle Lowry knows what it takes to win an NBA Championship and the 76ers remain hungry in their pursuit of one.
