The Philadelphia 76ers underwent a nice facelift this offseason. Most of their key players from last season remain on the roster, and the front office managed to ticked off an overdue entry on their checklist, signing a third star in Paul George. That’s on top of the team also having secured the services of some of the league’s better, low-cost role players.

But as everyone knows, a smooth sailing is far from a guarantee in the open market. In fact, some familiar faces who once donned the 76ers jersey are still unsigned at this juncture, jeopardizing their status for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Here are four former Philadelphia players still looking to find a new home.

Former 76ers No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz remains unsigned in free agency

Markelle Fultz, a former No. 1 overall pick by the 76ers, is yet to be picked up by any club this offseason. He spent the last five campaigns in Orlando, but entered unrestricted free agency this year. He rremains one of the best players available in the free agent market, but the most likely outcome is that he will have to settle with a much more modest paycheck.

While the ex-Sixer struggled with a decreased role last season, he is only a full year removed from being a productive starter. Following a slow start to his career, he’s carved out a string of productive campaigns with the Magic, rehabilitating his value as a legitimate on-court contributor in the league.

The team that will end up signing Fultz will be well-served by his efficient driving game, which he uses as the primary conduit to score and playmake. He still doesn’t have a reliable three-point shot, but he chases space pretty well in closeouts and is particularly savvy as a pick-and-roll operator.
