Philadelphia native Marcus Morris Sr. is facing a grim free agency slate
A Philadelphia native, Marcus Morris Sr. took on a poetic turn last season when he played for the 76ers thanks to the James Harden trade. His homecoming was short-lived after getting shipped at the trade deadline and ending up in Cleveland, and now, he finds himself still auditioning for his next home.
While only a full season removed from being a full-time starter for a legitimate championship contender, Morris is rapidly becoming an afterthought. A natural tweener, his defensive ability and shot creation have waned this past season, though his spot-up shooting should still be a desirable trait in need of perimeter firepower after he canned 40.3 percent of his three-point tires in the previous campaign/
Morris would most likely embrace a hypothetical return to the 76ers, but if the franchise doesn’t reciprocate, there are still a slew of teams that would benefit from having him aboard. He’s still a reasonable plug-and-play piece off the bench who can provide size and shooting at forward, and his veteran leadership should come in handy for playoff teams in need of a locker room boost.
