76ers: 3 Things Tyrese Maxey has to improve on for the 2024-25 season

Tyrese Maxey was named an All-Star for the first time in his career, but they are several aspects of his game that he can be improved ahead of the 2024/25 season with the 76ers.

Tyrese Maxey should become the main Philadelphia initiator

Maxey has improved by leaps and bounds in the playmaking area. He put up a carer-high 6.2 assists for the season and pushed that number closer to 7 per game in the playoff series against the Knicks. The New York series was a great indicator of what's to come for the young point guard and Maxey was able to play more in control against the stingy New York.

Adding a couple more assists in his game and becoming the main initiator in the offense might be a great way for the 76ers to show that they trust Maxey. The guard had the best AST Ratio of his career and the best AST/TO ratio in the team despite being labelled as a combo guard. Joel Embiid, who also made a serious playmaking leap, was a turnover machine in various occasions during the season including the playoffs.

Putting the ball in Maxey's hands more and let us see if he can create for his teammates without going at full speed will be optimal for Philadelphia's chances next season. Maxey had only nine double-doubles for the season. I would like to see him add more to his numbers next season especially if a third-string star joins the 76ers.

That said, Maxey had a tough time playing without Joel Embiid. His numbers were going up every time the former MVP was on the floor. That said, that's the next area the combo guard should improve.
