2. Derrick Jones Jr. would help fill Philadelphia’s biggest hole right now

Philadelphia is notably missing everything in the forward position, arguably the most important position in basketball from a malleability standpoint. All of their rotation staples this season playing the role are set to hit free agency, and it’s rather uncertain whether or not the 76ers can retain even just one of them.

To help fill the void, they should closely monitor the situation of Derrick Jones Jr. in Dallas. After shuffling through various teams in recent years, he seems to have found his home with the Mavericks, averaging career-highs in points and minutes per outing, as well as games started.

Jones may be set for a huge pay raise this summer, and while the Mavericks will exhaust all options they have to retain a pivotal starter like him, money rules in free agency. Philadelphia has the financial ammo to make Dallas sweat, and his moldable fit with the 76ers makes him a good target for the team as a potential starter or big-minute bench guy.
