The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for what could very well end up being a monumental season for the franchise. Still on the chase to snap a 41-year title drought, the team should undoubtedly approach the upcoming campaign with their chins held up high. After all, they do have one of, if not the strongest roster in the NBA.

You know that you have a potent deck when a perennial All-Star like Kyle Lowry is one of your cogs off the bench. Last season, the bullish playmaker started in most of his appearances, ultimately playing a major role after coming over from Miami via the buyout market. Despite an initial scare, he went on to re-sign with the 76ers.

Kyle Lowry will be a calming force for the 76ers this season

Lowry is a shell of his former self, but the 76ers have no need for the peak version of him anyway. As things currently stand, he’s most likely going to come off the bench — an ideal role for the 38-year-old. As Tyrese Maxey’s primary backup, he will undisputably be the calming force for the team on and off the court.

The 2019 NBA Champion is still a very playable role player who can hit with reliable precision from long-range (40.4 percent on three-pointers last season) and take on the playmaking reigns in spurts. His vast experience, especially in high-stakes contests, also makes him a viable option for Nick Nurse come clutch time.

Lowry can still be pretty pesky defensively thanks to his smarts and physique. All in all, a decline in minutes should be expected, but he will certainly be a trusted and handy weapon for Nick Nurse, especially with the team not exactly abundant on passers.

The clock is ticking for Kyle Lowry, but should all go well, he could be part of the march on a possible second championship to his resumé.
