Grade the Trade: 76ers swap their future for controversial star in clutch proposal
76ers trade for Paul George in proposed draft night mega deal
Philadelphia 76ers receive: F Paul George
LA Clippers receive: C Paul Reed, 2024 First-Round Pick (No.16), 2026 First-Round Pick (via OKC, HOU or LAC), 2028 First-Round Pick, 2028 First-Round Pick (via LAC), 2029 First-Round Pick (via LAC)
In this recent pitch from Bleacher Report’s Doric Sam, the 76ers acquire nine-time All-Star forward Paul George from the Clippers for Paul Reed, the 16th pick in the coming draft, and four future first-round selections.
Philadelphia has been reported to have given up on landing George in free agency, though the All-Star remains without a firm agreement at this juncture. Reports about his likely re-upping with LA have popped up, but it’s hard to envision the Clippers not even giving a slight nod to any prospective, future-oriented offers that could come to their table.
The Clippers still have the makings of a strong title contender, but staying healthy has become a virtual impossibility for their aging nucleus. George’s previous remarks about his discontent with his role also makes those reports of him unequivocally returning to LA a tad difficult to firmly believe in.
Nonetheless, how does this trade fare for the 76ers?
