NBA Free Agency opened up on Sunday evening and the Philadelphia 76ers were among the teams active in free agency’s beginning stages. Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon have agreed to deals with the team also adding nine-time All-Star Paul George shortly after.

While the 76ers have a lot of cap space at their disposal, much of it would be used to acquire Paul George. However, the deals agreed upon with both Drummond and Gordon are favorable as the Sixers need to acquire more high-quality depth.

Andre Drummond agrees to two-year, $10 million deal

Eric Gordon agrees to a one-year, veteran minimum $3.3 million deal

Neither Gordon nor Drummond are foreign names to people who follow the NBA. Andre Drummond is no stranger to Philadelphia where he spent the majority of the 2021-22 season as a Sixer with 49 games played. Many view that during Drummond’s brief time with the 76ers, he was the best backup big man in the Joel Embiid era. The soon-to-be, 31-year-old Drummond is still a more than capable reserve big man who will seek to bring consistency to Philadelphia’s rotation.

The 76ers will be the fifth team that the 35-year-old Eric Gordon will be a part of. After previous stops with the Clippers (twice), Pelicans, Rockets, and most recently, the Phoenix Suns. Throughout his long NBA tenure that began in 2008, Gordon has been an extremely consistent producer on the offensive end. He has averaged double-digit scoring numbers in each of his 16 seasons in the league. Even in his 68 games played with the Suns last season, he averaged 11 points per game, in nearly 28 minutes per game.

With these two new pieces to the puzzle, the 76ers are in the beginning stages of filling out their roster with plenty more to be done in the coming days and weeks.
