Potential 76ers trade target can now be acquired for chump change
Despite pulling off a blockbuster move that got them pegged as the offseason’s biggest winner alongside a flurry of savvy moves, the Philadelphia 76ers are not done yet. The summer break still has a long lifespan to it, and the team certainly has to fill out the rest of the roster before training camp opens a few months from now.
While the 76ers have cooled off a bit in the trade market and in free agency, Daryl Morey is not one to rest on his laurels. As long as a glimmer of opportunity presents itself, you’d be hard-pressed to find his and his group passing that up. Heck, this latest market spill may have just given him another player to monitor in the coming months.
Potential 76ers trade target Walker Kessler just got a lot easier to acquire
Walker Kessler, one of the best shot blockers in the NBA and an All-Rookie Team member in 2022-23, has already been made available by the Jazz in trades. And despite a great start to his career, it seems like Utah isn’t really looking to snag a jewel to get the ball rolling on a deal.
According to multiple reports, the Jazz are content with at least a first-round pick for Kessler, who has shown much promise as a future starting center in the NBA. The big man, however, touts present value as a high-end backup, making him a potential trade target for the 76ers, which need as much cushion behind Joel EMbiid as possible.
Signing Andre Drummond makes a 76ers offer a bit farfetched, but things could change when the season begins. Kessler still projects as a more sustainable option for any team in need of a center, and should the veteran fail to keep up his incredible production as a bench operator, Philadelphia could certainly tender an offer for the young big man.
The 76ers have a lot of picks to hedge against other suitors and entice the Jazz. Danny Ainge would certainly try to extract more, but Philly can at least hand in a benchmark offer to get in on a sweepstakes.
