4. Sixers trade Jaden Springer to Celtics

Grade: D-

The Deal

Sixers get: 2nd round pick

Celtics get: Jaden Springer

Just before the 3 PM ET deadline, the Sixers moved Jaden Springer to the Boston Celtics. Frankly, this one just does not seem to make a lot of sense. Springer has been a bright spot for the struggling Sixers in recent weeks. He has played impressive defense on Jordan Clarkson, Luka Dončić, and Stephen Curry. He has also shown an improved ability on the offensive end. So, why did the Sixers elect to trade Jaden Springer? More importantly, why did they elect to trade him to the Boston Celtics, minutes before the deadline came to an end? There are more questions than answers to this one, but what we do know is that after today’s moves, the Sixers have 3 roster spots available to fill via the buyout market.

Deadline Day Summary

IN: Buddy Hield, Cam Payne

2 second-round picks

OUT: Patrick Beverley, Jaden Springer, Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz, Danuel House

4 second-round picks
