The season has not yet started, but it is easy to pinpoint one area where the Philadelphia 76ers could struggle –– three-point shooting. While the front office brought in players who can give them a hand on that front, the team remains in need of more firepower from beyond the arc, given the sheer amount of shot creators they have. On that note, one name they should look out for in the trade market is Vit Krejci.
Krejci, who is currently lying low on the Trail Blazers bench, should be an easy player to acquire this coming season. Portland has a clear logjam in the backcourt, and if anything, his diminished role from the previous campaign is slated to dwindle even more given the team's impending roster crunch. That creates an opening for the 76ers to possibly try to swipe the sharpshooter through a midseason trade.
The 76ers could target an unheralded sharpshooter in Vit Krejci
A 39.3 percent three-point shooter over his career, Krejci can obviously add significant firepower from the perimeter to any team that houses him. He is also not afraid to hoist up triples, as he has always been a high-volume shooter from beyond the arc.
Last season, the 76ers were in the bottom third of the league in all three-point shooting metrics from actual conversions, attempts per game, and success rate. That simply cannot happen anymore in account of their revamped lineup featuring two new All-Stars in LeBron James and Jaylen Brown and other established veterans.
Portland does not really have a consistent role for Krejci, which makes him ripe as a trade candidate. If the 76ers front office want to double down on securing a low-cost option to abate their stale three-point shooting, the Czech guard should definitely be on their radar.
Krejci's best trait is obviously his three-point shooting, but he is not just that. He is a capable secondary playmaker and connector in spurts, and his lanky 6'8" frame makes him a more tenable option for the 76ers if they want more shooting without having to sacrifice size and range on the defensive end. He is not a world-beater on D, but his length certainly helps.
Philadelphia needs to bolster their three-point shooting as much as possible in order to fully optimize the talent level they have on the roster. Vit Krejci may not be a household name even for avid NBA watchers, but for a projected low cost, he should be a highly intriguing option for the 76ers in the trade market.
