Strike while the Rose is wilting Colangelo
Now, the Philadelphia 76ers are likely the last team you think of when it comes to point guards. After all, the team promoted undrafted point guard T.J.McConnell to the starting five as recently as the 2015-2016 NBA season. Since that time, the team has shuttled numerous players in and out in an attempt to find the “right guy” for the role.
Similarly, and parallel to the Philadelphia 76ers trials and errors at the point, Derrick Rose has fought his own battles off the court. Abandoned by the Chicago Bulls, he hoped to sign on with a playoff bound New York Knicks team which underperformed and never made a post season appearance.
Slip sliding away…
After signing on with the Cavaliers, he had hoped for that elusive championship appearance. Instead, he has had trouble remaining healthy enough to see playing time, and the Cavaliers are hovering around .500 this season.
The stellar point guard has been plagued with injuries. His latest is an ankle injury which he suffered against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 20, 2017. The prognosis was an extended time to recover. Right now, that time is complicated even further with Rose’s reflecting upon retirement, or whether he wants to continue fighting repeated injuries to play basketball.
