12. player. 77. . PG. Kentucky. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Gilgeous-Alexander was a four-star prospect entering the season, making his rise a bit surprising. It didn’t take long for him to emerge as Kentucky’s most consistent weapon, though, using his crafty scoring and much-improved playmaking to lift John Calipari’s team to the Sweet 16.
The Clippers have a lot of solid guards, but none of them provide much long-term stability. The team is in a weird spot in their timeline; they might have the pieces needed to compete, but they don’t have much hope of exceeding the eighth seed in a cut-throat Western Conference.
Shai gives them a young playmaker to develop behind Austin Rivers, Lou Williams, and whoever else is still on the team next season. Consistency with his shot will go a long way in determining how effective he is in year one.
