3 goals for Sixers forward Tobias Harris: All-Star

Harris has never made the All-Star game despite some impressive statistical campaigns on his resumé. It’s hard to peg Harris as a “favorite” next season, because the East is pretty full in the frontcourt. Harris is at an inherent disadvantage, even if the Sixers manage to mount another run atop the conference.

That said, it’s well within reach for Harris, who could realistically spend part of next season (if not all of next season) as the Sixers’ clear second-best player. The Simmons trade saga could drag on past training camp, and there’s no guarantee the core players in a potential return will out-rank Harris next season.

The Sixers need Harris’ scoring repertoire in the halfcourt. He’s critically important to the offense, even if fans have misjudged him in the past as a go-to creator and iso threat. He’s much more of a secondary guy, doing his best work on a few dribbles as possible. Even so, Harris’ ability to space the floor, beat closeouts, and put pressure on the rim is part of what makes Philadelphia tick.

He was considered an All-Star snub by some last season. The Sixers are unlikely to regain the No. 1 seed, but with Simmons virtually out of the picture, Harris could be playing in a much brighter spotlight. He should look to expand his resumé with a first career All-Star berth.
