3 guards for Maxey to emulate: Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry is another good defensive guard on this list as well and while Maxey could learn how to take charges from Lowry, that’s not the most important part of his game he should try to emulate.

Lowry is a proven NBA champion, leader, and clutch performer. He started out as a journeyman but until this offseason had found a home with the Toronto Raptors. Last season, he averaged17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.0 steals.

Out of the three players on this list, Lowry is arguably been consistently the most clutch player among them. He’s never shrunk in big moments in the last several seasons. That is something that Maxey has to embrace in his game.

The other thing that Lowery is very good at is playing off the ball. His movement and ability to hit spot-up shots have been key to the success of the Raptors in the past and will be important to the Miami Heat’s success this season. Maxey should look at Lowry to learn how to play off the ball as well.
