76ers should pounce on this forgotten NBA champion still on the market

Training camp is only a couple of months away, which means that the offseason is slowly coming to its end point. The Philadelphia 76ers, despite their blockbuster summer, can still do some more in the transaction tables with their final roster spot. To that effect, one name they should strongly consider is Bruce Brown, who somehow remains unsigned and widely available for taking on in the open market.

Brown, a pivotal part of the Nuggets team that won the championship in 2023, has unexpectedly witnessed his market dry up this offseason. Be that as it may, the 76ers are one of the few teams that still make a lot of sense for him from a basketball standpoint, given his two-way contributions as a proven role player who has won at the highest level.

The 76ers should strongly consider signing Bruce Brown as their final free agency addition

Of course, this thought piece is premised on the 76ers front office doing the necessary maneuvers to allow them to actually fill up their final roster spot. And if they are able to do that, they should immediately contact Brown's camp to test the waters on his interest in a potential partnership.

This past season, Brown reprised his role as a key bench piece for Denver. He appeared in all 82 games for the Nuggets, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and one steal a night in 24.4 minutes of court time. He converted on 47.5 percent of his field goal attempts, which includes a respectable 38.5 percent success rate from three-point territory.

Brown's numbers do not pop off the page, but he is a high-impact player who has no problem not having the ball in his hands. And with the 76ers being bannered by a slew of All-NBA studs, low-usage players like Brown, who will be willing to do the dirty work instead of further clogging up the scoring profile, are ideal.

The 30-year-old's defensive versatility is no slouch, either. With his size, he is capable of latching onto opposing guards and wings, and he is not completely helpless against players who are taller than him. That is especially handy to have for a team constructed like the 76ers.

The 76ers do not need any more infusion of talent, but blue-collar players like Bruce Brown should be highly desired. As long as they re-equip themselves with the ability to fill their last roster spot, the one-time NBA champion should be high on their radar.
