Jaylen Brown's 5-word message should get 76ers fans all riled up

The Philadelphia 76ers are already getting close to training camp, and soon enough, fans and pundits alike should be able to catch their first real glimpse of how formidable their revamped core could look like on the hardwood. Jaylen Brown, one of their blockbuster newcomers this summer, will certainly be a huge storyline by himself, and it appears that he is approaching the season with a killer's mentality.

As Brown himself recently said, he "wants blood this year."

Even in his first foray as a Sixer, Brown seems to be very eager to prove his naysayers wrong. After his bitter exit from the Celtics, certain narratives –– many of the unhinged variant –– were floated around. All of those were very critical of the way he played for Boston despite the fact that he hard-carried them last season en route to a very respectable finish. Now with the 76ers, the 2024 Finals MVP is looking to rake in a jackpot right in his first season with the franchise.

After Boston's ambitious trade venture for Giannis Antetokounmpo fell through, Brown ended up suffering the most collateral damage. His relationship with the Celtics obviously soured, which is easily predictable given the ugly optics associated with trying to jettison the one player who led them to a second-seed finish in the East without their supposed best player in Jayson Tatum for the vast majority of the season.

Aside from the fact that Boston did not shy away from wanting him swapped out with Giannis Antetokounmpo, there were numerous reports out of Celtics circles about Brown's allegedly entitled stylings with his former ball club, especially with respect to his relationship with Tatum. While those remain uncorroborated, it would appear that Brown has left a not-so-ideal impression on many.

There are also the agenda-driven advanced stats peddlers who kept harping on the Celtics being better off without Brown. Of course, that will rub him the wrong way, given that he was a Finals MVP.

Fortunately, the 76ers stand to benefit from Brown approaching the season with a hungry attitude. While he is also a proven name with a title and a Finals MVP trophy under his belt, Philly is a desperate franchise, and Brown can certainly help them achieve that coveted championship.

Right from the get-go, this partnership between the 76ers and Jaylen Brown could easily culminate in mutual satisfaction. Hopefully, that indeed ends up being the case when it's all said and done –– a dream that now feels well within reach.
